The second ACPYS workshop was successfully held at Monash University on Oct 11, 2008. This workshop attracted over 40 papers and about 100 participants, including students and Australian and Chinese scholars. Five students were awarded Best Paper Award for five sessions and one best poster was also selected. The featured talks and speeches by a number of Australian and Chinese scholars were highly welcomed by participants. The social functions are also highlights of the one-day event. This workshop combined well both academic and social features for Chinese students and young scholars. The workshop proceeding is available online now (download). It contains workshop presentation program, all abstracts, authors’ BIOs and workshop papers.

Association of Chinese PhD Students and Young Scholars (ACPYS) is a young and active part of the whole Chinese elite in Australia. Its members including Chinese students, visiting scholars, invited scientists and academics come to the beautiful city of Melbourne from all over China and across broad research fields. Due to their unique background, the association is one of the most influential groups that bridges academic as well as cultural exchanges between Australia and China.
澳大利亚中国博士生及青年学者协会（澳大利亚墨尔本中国留学生博士沙龙）成立于2006年，是一个由墨尔本地区七所大学的中国博士生及博士后组成的多学科学术团体。“沙龙”旨在增进广大会员之间的学术交流，加强和其他地区博士生团体的联系；发挥博士生群体的智力资源优势，加强和国内学术界和教育界的联系，为国家引进优秀海外人才提供服务；扩大中国博士生在墨尔本当地社会各界的影响，推广和弘扬中华文化。
